Wizz Air launches new routes from Romania

2006-06-30 10:26

Wizz Air will significantly expand its operations in Romania with the launch of an additional nine new routes from three Romanian cities from January 2007. The low-cost will fly from Bucharest's Baneasa Airport to Budapest, Barcelona, Dortmund, London Luton and Rome Ciampino, from the western city of Arad to Milan Bergamo and from Tirgu Mures to Budapest (from 14 July), Rome Ciampino and Barcelona.

This major expansion in Romania follows Wizz Air's earlier market establishment in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia. Having completed the Romanian market entry, Wizz Air will be able to offer low fare flights from 15 airports and seven Central and Eastern Europe countries to 40 destinations on 69 routes in Europe. The airline carried 3.5 million passengers in its first two years of operation.
