Summer on the Chain Bridge

Exploiting the popularity and central location of Budapest's famous Chain Bridge (Lánchíd), a new attraction was born in 2003 which was later expanded and adjusted to meet the tourists' requirements.

The aim of the event, staged over seven weekends , is to present the cultural values and tourism offers of Budapest and the country to domestic and international tourists. While strolling across the closed-off bridge, spanning the Danube between the promenade and foot of Castle Hill, tourists may enjoy shows, handicrafts displays and cultural programmes - all this in the middle of Budapest's World Heritage site between Pest and Buda.

The Summer on the Chain Bridge series amounts to an important tool in boosting tourism and improving Budapest's image since a great variety of free programmes are staged for tourists in the city every year.
